# Event Details - **Event Name**: Derwent Edge - 'hike and sketch' | Peak District | Group Hike - **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 28 Nov, 2025 at 10:00 am – Fri, 28 Nov, 2025 at 02:00 pm - **Event Description**: Walk along the Derwent Edge and spend some time sketching its epic rock formations among great company!About this EventWe’ll trace along the wonderful Derwent Edge and back, take in the views and spend time at a few of the rugged rock formations to do some sketching! No need to be pro, just a love for great chat, doodling and using your hands will do too! Bag a trig too!This is an 'out and back' route. Each sketch stop will be fairly short and done on the way out to Back Tor Trig point. We will return along the same route.Distance: approx 12.5kmElevation: approx 220mGrade: Moderate Hiking. Mostly because of the distance - once we have done the initial gentle ascent to Derwent Edge, the trail flattens out. Easy footpaths and trails and some sections of the paths will be a little uneven underfoot at times.Time: 10am start for up to 4 hours. Note we will meet by 9.50am to leave at 10am.Who is the event for: Everybody is welcome! (aged 18+)Who will be your guide?I’m Sara and I’m an Artist and Hill and Moorland Leader based in West Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District. I’ve always been active but hiking became a real passion and I’m excited to share my love for adventure with you!Where we'll meet:We'll be meeting at Cuttthoat Bridge Car park, A57, Hope Valley S10 4QZ. Free car parking area (correct at time of typing).What to bring:Your sketch book and preferred sketching or drawing tools.Hiking boots or shoes with good gripSnacks or lunch to keep you happy and sustained for around 4 hoursRucksackWater (at least 1L)WaterproofsWarm layers, hat and glovesA personal first aid kit with any medications or things you'd usually have on youOptional extras: Walking poles, sit mat, hot drink, extra warm layers to staty warm when we stop to sketch.What will the terrain be like?Mostly trails and footpaths, some uneven and rocky areas, possibly some muddy sections.Note about Toilets:There are no toilets at the car park. and There won't be any along the way after that on the walk so we may have to embrace ‘wild wees’ whilst we’re out. There are plenty of little hidden spots if required.Safety and your participation:The core hope for my walks is that they are enjoyable and memorable experiences for everyone so we will keep to a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views, learning about the area and being outdoors in nature. You are also responsible for your own health and safety and there can be risks with all outdoor activities. You'll be asked to complete a medical form a couple of days before the walk to let me know of any medical conditions prior to the day. Every participant is required to complete this a minimum of 24 hours before the event begins.I am a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and Outdoor First Aid trained so will be on hand in case of an emergency.Dogs:No dogs on this event I'm afraid.Refund Policy:Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled.Weather:This walk will be going ahead whatever the weather, unless I decide that the conditions will be dangerous or impractical for sketching.
